Celestial Beings (Celetials)

Post by Tuli-yatis on Wed May 21, 2014 1:10 pm

Celestials in Panagala are the beings who dwell in the Celestial Planes rather than the Material Planes. These include The Source, the titans, the gods, angels, cacodemons, and other divine beings. The Source, the titans, and the gods do not walk upon Pangala; angels, demons, etc. are rarely found unless sent by the gods or summoned by sorcerers.

The Source: The Source is a vast and formless energy, conscious and aware. It fashioned the titans Panthos and Galandros to create the universe and all life within. The Source is not directly worshiped and is in fact and unknown entity to all save the Celestials, the elementals, and the sidhe.

Panthos of the of the Darkness: titan; the essence of Darkness, who shared in the creation of the universe and life with Galandros. Panthos dwells in the Lower Celestial and is not directly worshiped. Panthos is known to the elementals, sidhe, sìochäir and fey.

Galandros of the Light: titan, the essence of Light, who shared in the creation of the universe and life with Panthos. Galandros dwells in the Upper Celestial and is not directly worshiped. Panthos is known to the elementals, sidhe, sìochäir and fey.

Panthos and Galandros created the World of Pangala together, as well as the Gods and Goddesses of the Celestial Planes.

Angels, Demons, and Other Celestials

Post by Tuli-yatis on Thu Aug 02, 2018 11:31 am

Angels are soulless beings who dwell in the Upper and Lower Celestial Realms, serving specific gods and goddesses. The act as messengers and errand runners, rarely seen on the Material Planes. Their form is determined by the taste of their particular deity as well as the task they are required to perform.

Cacodemons are angels who remain godless after the death of Lord Leax. They have been abandoned by the remaining gods and goddesses and left to fade away. However, cacodemons are persistent and struggle to maintain their existence, hungering for souls and willing to do unspeakable things to get them. Cacodemons deal with individuals and groups on the Material Planes, but can only do so when summoned specifically and only for the duration of the "Bargain." It is possible to create a lasting relationship with a cacodemon, however, it is rarely pleasant. The cost to summon a cacodemon the first time is always one's soul; once a bargain has been struck, the gods rarely interfere to redeem that soul. Cacodemons cannot be killed, but they can be weakened or banished back to the Celestial Realms.

Devils are demonic overlords, risen from powerful cacodemons. They are the Dukes/Duchesses of the Godless realms of the Lower Celestial. Often in contention with each other (or outright warfare, depending on those involved), devils do not have the time nor inclination to mingle personally in the affairs of those who dwell on the Material Plains. Each devil has a following of cacodemons who serve them and perform their nefarious commands.

Nephilim are the offspring of angels and those who dwell on the Material Planes. Nephilim are only created when the gods wish, and usually to fulfill a prophecy. Nephilim are very rare and often die once the prophecy has been fulfilled.

Daemons are the offspring of cacodemons and the inhabitants on the Material Planes (Pangala). Powerful in their own right, these beings are never as powerful as a cacodemon. Daemons are born and bred on the Material Planes, and therefore have souls. Because of this, they cannot be banished, but can be killed. Types of daemons: Djinn (bred from Giants), Ifrit (bred from Aunyaina), Imps (shattered souls), and Incubi/Succubae (bred from Fey). Daemons can summon cacodemons without risking their own souls.

Djinn are daemons bound to wells and lamps; Ifrit are bound to desert oases. They want their freedom and will do everything in their power to trick the unwitting into releasing them. They are bound by the gods to follow the every agreement to the letter (not the spirit). If something is not clearly stated, it does not fall into the agreement. Be careful what you wish! Ifrit are less inclined to negotiate than djinn and will more often than not devour the foolish who disturb them. Ifrit are generally to angry and hungry to bargain for long.

Imps are the spontaneous animations of shattered souls. They are the remains of souls that have been fed upon by cacodemons and devils. These souls come from those who found themselves in the power of cacodemons, whether through their own actions (by summoning one), or by the actions of others (sacrificed to a cacodemon). The faithless (those who worship no gods) also fall under this category upon death. Imps become a very weak form of daemon, easily summoned and controlled by those on either plane. Imps, like all cacodemons, crave souls to feed upon. Summoning an imp does not require the promise of one's soul for it to do one's bidding, but instead requires a will stronger than that of the imp. Imps often serve powerful sorcerers, demonologists, and necromancers as familiars. They make better familiars than traditional animals of the Material Planes, due to their intelligence and demonic abilities. Imps are able to feed off the soul of their Master/Mistress while the Master/Mistress lives. They are not capable of devouring the entire soul, however, but this does give the imp a chance to grow in power and strength to better serve the sorcerer...and themselves. Sorcerers usually become imps once they die, unless they have bartered their soul to a cacodemon. In this case, the soul becomes devoured completely by the cacodemon and the devil it serves.

Incubi/Succubae are mercurial (shifters) beings who are serial rapists, generally prey on the sleeping or those foolish enough to call to them. They are seducers, wooing and luring their prey to satiate their own lusts and desires. Succubae appear to males and steal their seed, so as to implant it in an unwitting female at a later time. Incubi are succubae who have obtained the sperm of a sleeping male who then prey upon females, usually impregnating them (80/20 chance of being pregnant) with another incubi/succubae. The offspring will physically appear as a combination of the male donor and the birthing mother until the child reaches puberty. Then it transforms into an incubi/succubae.

Demonkin are descendants of Daemons who have interbred with the various races on Pangala (with the exception of incubi/succubae). These individuals have Djinn, Ifrit, or Imp ancestry, and can be found among many of the races on Pangala. Demonkin physically appear the same as their non-demonic heritage, but have the ability to summon cacodemons without risking their own souls. Demonkin have limited demonic powers (generally magical) and are weaker in power than daemons.
