Creation of Pangala Empty Creation of Pangala

In the beginning, there is The Source. The Source is a vast and formless energy, but conscious and aware. The Source grows lonely and fashions from Itself the Two; one created from Light and the other created from Darkness. The Source names these Two Galandos of the Light and Panthos of the Darkness.

The Two absorb wisdom and creative energies from The Source and fashion around them the universe. Panthos of the Darkness creates moons, comets, meteors, and planets; Galandos of the Light creates the stars and galaxies to illuminate the darkness. The Two spend much time on the planet Pangala, named for the both of Them. Panthos forms the sphere, filling it with a vast ocean, then drawing up the lands. Volcanoes, mountains, valleys, hills, plains...all are lovingly crafted by the hands of Panthos. Then Galandos draws forth the trees, grasses, flowers, and mosses, clothing Pangala in verdant and colorful plants. Once the planet has been prepared, the Two awaken the body-less souls called Elementals to tend to the world.

The allow the world to rest for ten thousand years, under the watchful eyes of the Elementals.. Panthos and Galandos rest and sleep those years away. Once they awaken, they remember their creation and return to check it's progress. Plant-life thrives, but only the whispering of the wind and the crashing of waves on beaches give sound.
Panthos then decides to draw life from the oceans, creating all the beasts that dwell within the waters. Galandos then breathes life upon the land and into the air, creating the birds and beasts to dwell upon the lands. The Two are pleased but lonely in the Celestial Realms, with only The Source and each other for companionship.

Combining their energies, They create the gods of Pangala to dwell within the Celestial Realms. The Eighteen continue to build upon the world of Pangala, to the delight of Panthos and Galandos. The first-born race of the gods is created. Tending and caring for the nature and maintaining the balance of nature, The Sidhe work in conjunction with the Elementals. These first children of the gods are blessed with long lives, wisdom, and humor. The Sidhe are perfectly balanced in Light and Darkness, and still exist today, even though their numbers have dwindled. The Sidhe never forget that they are the first-born, and that their duty is to maintain balance. They honor the gods by doing their duty. They do not worship the gods directly, but they often speak with them.

Five thousand years pass and Pangala is prosperous and beautiful under the care of the sidhe and the elementals. Animals are now numerous and wide-spread, but the sidhe are long-lived and slow to reproduce. The sidhe grow lonely and petition the gods to fashion other races, to help populate the planet and to offer up worship to the gods. Fond of their children, the gods take two of the sidhe and divide them between the darkness and the light.
The siochair, created by Lady Ardyserene, are pulled from the Darkness that dwells in the sidhe. They become a serious and scholarly race (known as elves among the humans). The fey, created by Lord Aelandas are drawn from the Light and thus are light of heart, mercurial, and mischievous. Like the sidhe, the siochair and the fey are long lived, however, the fey reproduce quickly while the siochair do not.

At this time, Panthos and Lady Druimina create the race of Dragons, beings of great power to keep the siochair and fey on cheque. Dragons are formed from ravens, felines, and reptiles and fused in fire. The raven in them forever craving all things shiny. Once the dragons, siochair and fey have been created, the Celestial Realms is divided in two.

Galandos of the Light retires to the Upper Celestial, joined by Lord Aelandas, Lady Aryserene, Lady Finanna, Lord Hrods, Lord Gormadoc, Lady Imrune, Lady Kiris, Lord Quyen, and Lord Raharon. Panthos of the Darkness retires to the Lower Celestial, joined by Lady Carennovele, Lady Druimina, Lord Gathiel, Lord Iddawg, Lord Leax, Lord Naseal, Lady Selenen, Lady Shenenesha, and Lord Uliam.
The gods then create for themselves messengers and assistants, known as the Angelic race. These beings having been created in the Celestial Realms rather than the Material Planes, have no souls. Each angel works for a specific god or goddess, performing various tasks.

Another five thousand years pass and the gods of the Upper and Lower Celestial begin to create new beings to populate Pangala. Kulajana (dwarves), giants, gnomes, aigamuxa (ogres), aunyaina (orcs) and smallfolk (halflings/hobbits) are created from the elves and fey.

Dragons, jealous of the gods, created the race of borbytingarna  (trolls) from a hodgepodge of the new races and fire. The borbytingarna are a hearty, resilient race that can regenerate lost limbs (and heads) over a period of time. Their only weakness is fire. Having been created on the Material Plane, borbytingarna have souls and being a mix of all the other races, they can breed with any of them.
Another five thousand years pass and the final race is created by the gods: humans. This new race was formed from clay by the gods of the Lower Celestial. There is dissension at this time as well between the gods Leax and Gathiel. Gathiel, the god of sleep, kills Leax, the god of death and takes over his domain (showing the gods and the world that even death can die). In acquiring the domain of death, Gathiel also takes in several of the angels that served Leax, but not all of them. These unclaimed angels, left to their own devices become the cacodemons of the Lower Celestial. Being godless creatures, they no longer have access to the energies and life given to the divine by the acquiring of souls.

The unchecked cacodemons begin to mingle with the races on Pangala, exchanging favors for souls and breeding among the various peoples to create Daemons. A few of the cacodemons grow strong and form factions, growing in strength and power. These become known as devils. The gods, concerned that the devils and cacodemons will destroy life on Pangala, banish them to the lowest regions of the Lower Celestial and forbid them from wandering freely on Pangala. The only way a cacodemon or devil can join the Material Plane is if someone there summons them. The cacodemons who have bred offspring on Pangala have ties that anchor them tentatively in the world.
As the daemons on Pangala breed among themselves and the other races, they created a half-breed race known as demonkin. Demonkin are looked down upon by most of the natural races of Pangala and considered evil outsiders. Anyone with daemonic ancestry is considered demonkin. Most demonkin live on the outskirts of polite society in isolation and practice dark magics or necromancy.

Another fifteen thousand years have passed into the present day. At this time, most daemons have been bound by the gods (except the incubi, succubi, hags, and Malak). An occasional ghoul has been known to break free of its bonds to destroy villages, but they are quickly dealt with. The Source is an unknown entity on Pangala and the Two are know only to the sidhe, siochair, and fey. The seventeen remaining gods are all worshiped under various names (depending on the race and region) and the gods have ceased to create new races. The gnomes, however, are a rather curious and scientific people who experiment often and over the years have created races known as abominations among the gods. Most of these abomination races are unaware of their true origins as gnomish experiments and thrive upon Pangala among all the other races. These races include (but are not limited to) the Shah-mar (snake people), Arzshenk (minotaurs), merrows (merfolk), fairge sìochäir (sea elves), and Kentauri (centaurs). Ulfheoinn  (Pine-folk) are the result of human experimentation, lycanthorpy is a disease known as Ulfhednar Syndrome, that left untreated becomes a permanent condition, and the undead (liches and vampires) are also the results of human experimentation.

The gods of Pangala are neither good nor evil, but more along the lines of lawful or chaotic. They strive to maintain balance among each other, the peoples of Pangala, and the world itself. Devils rank just below a demi-god in strength and power and to summon one usually means instant death. Only the most skilled demonologists and necromancers can summon a true devil rather than a cacodemon.
